Frequently

Asked Questions

Every project is quoted individually — no two pieces are exactly alike. The fastest way to get a number is to fill out our detailed quote form. The more information you give us (dimensions, condition, material preferences, hardware wishes), the more accurate your quote will be. We get back to every request within 24-48 hours.

Yes. We require a 20% deposit of the total quoted price before any work begins. The deposit confirms your spot in the schedule and covers the cost of materials ordered specifically for your job. The remaining balance is due when your piece is complete and ready to ship or be picked up.

Rush jobs are possible, but they displace other work in the queue — so there’s a 25% surcharge added to the total quoted price. The full deposit (including the 25% rush) is collected upfront. Mention any hard deadlines in your quote request, and we’ll let you know if the timeline is achievable before you commit.

The main cost drivers are: the size of the piece (more surface area = more material), the material chosen (leather costs more than standard vinyl), the condition (heavy damage means more prep time), the hardware (replacement corners, handles, knobs, and latches are priced separately), and whether interior work such as custom foam cutouts is included.

Payment details are confirmed during the quoting process. We’ll go over accepted methods when we send your quote. If you have a preference, mention it in your request.

(1) Quote request — fill out the form with details and photos.

(2) Quote & consultation — we review everything and respond within 24-48 hours.

(3) Deposit & scheduling — approve the quote, pay the 20% deposit, and your piece enters the build queue.

(4) Ship or drop off — send or bring your piece to our Nashville studio. If you are dropping off, please schedule an appointment time.

(5) Build — every panel is measured, cut, and crafted by hand.

(6) Review & return — we photograph the finished piece, collect the remaining balance, and ship it back.

Most jobs are completed within 3–4 weeks from the date we receive your piece. This varies depending on queue length, material availability, and complexity. We’ll give you an honest timeline estimate with your quote — if there’s a backlog, we’ll say so upfront. Rush turnaround is available for a 25% fee.

Yes. We’ll let you know when your piece arrives, when work begins, and when it’s complete. For larger jobs we’re happy to send progress photos along the way — ask when we discuss your project.

Minor adjustments can sometimes be accommodated early on — the best time to raise anything is before materials are cut. Once cutting has begun, scope changes will affect the price and your timeline. If something feels off during the consultation, speak up then. We’d much rather get it right the first time.

Not at all. We’re based in Nashville, Tennessee, but work with customers nationwide. Most out-of-town clients simply ship their piece to us, and we ship it back when it’s done. If you’re local, you’re welcome to drop off and pick up in person. If you’re local, please make an appointment to drop off your piece.

Pack your piece as if it’s going on a long tour. Use a double-walled cardboard box with at least 3–4 inches of foam or packing peanuts on all sides. Remove any loose hardware — knobs, handles, latches — and bag them separately inside the box. We are not responsible for damage that occurs in transit to us, so pack carefully and insure your shipment for its full value.

Return shipping is the customer’s responsibility and is invoiced at cost along with the final balance. We use a carrier and service level appropriate for the size and value of the piece. If you have a preferred carrier or account number, let us know when you submit your quote.

We do not offer pick-up at this time. Your options are to ship your piece to our Nashville studio or drop it off locally if you’re in the area. We’ll provide the studio address after your quote is confirmed.

Our main exterior materials are tolex/vinyltweedfull-grain and corrected-grain leathersuede, and woven jute. For amp cabinets, we also source period-correct grill cloth in classic patterns, including Fender silver sparkle, Marshall salt-and-pepper, and natural linen weaves. If you’re after something specific, mention it in your quote request, and we’ll source it.

This is one of the things we love doing. We source authentic Vox-spec, Marshall-spec, and Fender-spec Tolex, tweed, and grill cloth to maintain period-correct appearances. A good photo of the original — and ideally the year and model — goes a long way. We’ll let you know upfront if an exact match isn’t possible and suggest the closest available alternative.

For instrument cases, we offer plush/velvetsuedeclosed-cell foam, and tweed interior linings. We can also cut custom foam inserts for your specific instrument shape — standard silhouette or a fully custom multi-compartment design. If you’re unsure, select “Help Me Choose” on the quote form, and we’ll make a recommendation.

Yes. We can keep existing hardware, replace it in-kind, or upgrade to a different finish. Common finishes include nickel, chrome, brass, and matte black. If you need vintage-spec hardware — period-correct corner brackets, specific handle styles, antique brass clasps — let us know, and we’ll try to source it. Hardware costs are itemized separately in your quote.

Absolutely. Select “Help Me Choose” on the exterior material field in the quote form and describe what you’re going for — era, vibe, durability needs, or a specific amp or artist you want to reference. We’ll come back with a few concrete options and our honest recommendation.

Sometimes, yes. Partial repairs work best when the existing material is in decent condition, and the damage is isolated — a torn corner, a lifting panel, a cracked section. The honest caveat is that getting a patch to match aged tolex perfectly is difficult, so partial repairs can occasionally look more patched than restored. We’ll give you a straight opinion on whether a partial repair or a full re-cover makes more sense.

Yes, and we treat vintage pieces with the care they deserve. We document hardware and panel positions before anything is removed. If your piece is particularly rare or valuable, mention it in your quote request — we may ask for additional details before providing a quote to make sure we’re the right fit.

Custom is our default mode. If you can describe it — or better yet, show us a reference image — we can usually make it happen. Unusual shapes, two-tone designs, contrasting binding, custom foam compartments: bring the brief, and we’ll tell you what’s possible. Use the Additional Notes field in the quote form.

Our core work covers amp cabinets and heads, combo amps, road cases, keyboard and synthesizer cases, pedalboard cases, and sometimes guitar and bass cases. If your piece doesn’t fall neatly into one of those categories, reach out — if it involves upholstery and music gear, there’s a good chance we can help.

We started with furniture, but our focus is on musical instruments and audio gear — that’s where our expertise and material sourcing are strongest. We don’t take on automotive. If you are local to Nashville, we will consider furniture. Drop us an email, and we’ll get back to you straight away if we can take it on.
